The featured passage is the last few paragraphs of the article. They tell us about Andy's condition, and his experiences of walking on Mars. 1. The Man on Mars I feel like I have spent the last few months on a Mars expedition. It feels like I have been walking on the surface of Mars for months, and that I have been in a horrible state for most of that time. What I ate and drank was often not what I wanted or needed, and I had to force myself to eat. But that was nothing new. I have always been a fussy eater. Sometimes, the urge to vomit was overpowering. Occasionally, I would vomit over and over again. But I never got sick, which was strange because I knew I should have been. I also noticed that I was losing weight. I had lost about twenty pounds. I began to have trouble sleeping. I had difficulty sleeping at night because it seemed like I was on a really bad roller-coaster ride. Sometimes, my legs felt like they were being kicked repeatedly, even though I was lying very still. I also had terrible night sweats. It was as if my body was on fire all night. There was a lot of pain in my head. I had a hard time standing, and when I walked, my gait was unusually stiff. I still had to work hard to move, as if my body was protesting being forced to do too much. I also experienced strange hallucinations. I would have the strange feeling that people or creatures were watching me from the shadows. I thought I heard voices, and I found that, whenever I asked someone to help me, I would get no response. Most of all, I missed my family. I had been gone for two years. I had told my family that I was going on a six-month expedition to the Red Planet. But the truth was I was in a state of suspended animation. I had not been on Earth for months. The reality of the situation was starting to set in, and I was getting increasingly agitated. I missed
